Just a random idea….

This is just an idea i had for the ending of our film from randomly watching “Criminal Justice” last Saturday! It was so beautifully filmed in my opinion and expressed strong distressed emotion in a very heartfelt way. It was very musically led as our film will be and I think that to end our short film in such and emotional way would give an extra element to our film and give the audience the meaning and depth that they were looking for.

This thought is for the very end of our film where Guy is in the deserted park at night after fighting with Violet and he is shooting in to the emptiness.

His gun empties and he falls to his knees in despair, camera filming from behind him we cut to an extreme SA/CU of Guy’s eyes - so close that you can’t straight away see that its necessarily him as at this time he will have the purple stripe of make-up on. In complete silence we watch him, except for the sound of his heavy breathing. Camera still with the extreme SA/CU, in slow motion he closes his eyes and his head drops, the camera then slowly and gently traces his face. Revealing to the audience that it is in fact him and suggesting that Violet is in fact in his mind. This type of filming will give the audience an intense connection with him as we see his broken mental state in such an extreme CU.

Also as we have changed the beginning of our film (which is now set on the bus) in my vision of it, it will be film in a very similar style as this idea for the ending. So having this extreme difference in filming in the beginningand end not (opposed to the big wide angle shots with faster editing for the fight scene) only joins both ends of our film bringing it full circle giving a better sence of structure, it will also entice the audience into a more deep and emotional connection with the character of Guy.
